Damn, 120 days of oblivion.

Sun Dec 12, 2004, 7:36 PM
Well, maybe less. I haven't been on DA for a while. Why? Because I really have nothing to contribute. :P

These past few months I've been working daily on my guitar skills, and boy, have I improved! I don't realize it of course, but when I think back to 4 months ago, I've accomplished a lot. Now I can play many of my favorite In Flames, Metallica, and (other metal bands here) songs! Well, at least most of them. Last one I learned was "The Four Horsemen" by Metallica, simple but fun, plus its my favorite Metallica song. I can play some songs by bands like Immortal, Dissection(a really cool acoustic song called "Into Infinite Obscurity"), and some more... As soon as I get a job, the first thing I'll save up for is a good electric guitar and amp. I'm aiming for the ESP EX-50 guitar(google it), and some powerful amp, perhaps 75 watts or something, with distortion of course.

These past 2 months I've been listening to death and black metal endlessly. Kind of fits the mood/weather over here in NJ. I've really layed off the melodic stuff for a while, barely any In Flames or At the Gates or whatever. Some of the bands I'm going crazy about recently are: Arsis(missed them live in NYC due to age requirements), Deicide, Morbid Angel, Decapitated(Polish death metal!), Vader(more Polish death metal), and Behemoth(can't forget Poland. :P).

I will most likely see Behemoth live in February in NYC, along with New York death metal legends Suffocation. I'm excited, as this will be my first real metal concert. Not to mention that Behemoth are my favorite band at the moment.

Speaking of concerts, I happened to see Pearl Jam live in October in Pennsylvania! 'Twas great, pretty close to the stage, and Eddie Vedder put on one hell of a show. Wouldn't mind seeing them again. :)

Now... about school. Well it's fine, all my classes are relatively easy. I'm having trouble with Calculus(advanced placement) for some reason, I've failed a few tests, but I'll pull through.

As for the alumni, kind of what I expected. Assloads of Latin Americans/latin American descent. Nothing wrong with that, it's just hard to find someone that shares my interests or that I can relate to... even if it's just in musical taste. Found a dude that likes Children of Bodom and Swedish death metal(just metal in general), but that's it. Oh well. I'm fine with it.

I constantly get complimented by the ladies(long hair is a plus). :P No score yet, as I haven't found a girl at least remotely intelligent... A shame, really. I have some girl clinging to my heels, but I have no interest...

Many of the students(and teachers) are kind of ignorant when it comes to world culture/history/common knowledge, but it's not their fault, just the crappy American education system. Well I don't care much for my institute, as this is my last year! Hell yeah. I'm not sure what university I'll go to yet, I'm waiting for my SAT results(probably fucked up, taking a 2nd one in Jan). I'm aiming for Rutgers, NYU, Columbia, or something. Chemical Engineering and/or Astronomy/Astrophysics as my major. w00t. Hmm... actually, that's not so cool. It better be a well-paid profession, otherwise I'll be in debt up to my (eye)balls!

I've been trying to find a job ever since I moved here, but no luck yet. I might've been hired at an AMC Theater, but they did not allow long haired employees, so fuck 'em! No bitch ain't touchin' my scalp for a job... I do need an end-trimming sometime soon...

My sister returns from Spain for X-mas vacation next week or something, and I'm spending the holidays down in Florida with most of my family. That's all you need to know.

Fuck, I don't even know why I just wasted 30 minutes writing this shit! Don't know, must've been nostalgia. Might as well post it, since it's so long. Well enjoy, you get to take a peek at my life at the moment. :D Don't expect this often...

Edit: I think I just thought of what I'm going to contribute: pics of me playing guitar, useless avatars, quick photoshop jobs, and whatever crap I make once I get my good old(not really old) comp back. No scanner, so I won't be scanning any art or anything(not like I've been drawing lately). Maybe I'll contribute some lyrics, I've written a few recently.

Hello Soeru. Welcome to DA. I looked at your gallery and your photograph of the Canary Islands in Spain pulled me right to it. Kind of an intresting composition. Lines in the mirrors; a cool juxtaposition of elements. I'd like to see more like it. I'll put you on my devwatch.
